About this place
Aspat Bay is one of the most beautifully unspoiled and tranquil coves on the Bodrum peninsula, a rocky natural bay on the southern coastline near the village of Bağla, around 15 kilometres west of Bodrum town. Flanked by ancient ruins and dramatic rocky hillsides tumbling down to crystal-clear turquoise water, the bay offers a wonderfully raw and undeveloped Aegean experience well away from the busier and more commercialised beaches of the peninsula.
Tips
Bring everything you need for the day including food, water, and sun protection, as facilities at the bay are minimal and that is very much part of its charm. The rocky shoreline is ideal for snorkelling, with remarkably clear water and an interesting seabed to explore, so bring a mask and fins. The ruins of the ancient Byzantine castle of Aspat on the hillside above the bay are worth exploring for additional historical interest and sweeping views along the coastline. Aspat Bay is best reached by car or scooter from Bodrum town, as public transport to this part of the peninsula is limited, and the journey along the coastal road is scenic and rewarding in its own right.
