About this place
The Bode Museum stands at Museum Island's northern tip. Designed by Ernst von Ihne and completed in 1904, this Baroque Revival masterpiece houses an exceptional collection of Byzantine sacred art and European sculptures spanning the Renaissance to Baroque eras. After a major renovation, it reopened in 2006, displaying its treasures across geographically and chronologically organized galleries.
Tips
The museum houses collections of sculptures from the Christian Orient to the 18th century, Byzantine art from the 3rd to 15th century, and the Münzkabinett with approximately 500,000 coins and medals spanning from the 7th century BC to present day.
