About this place

Gülhane Park is one of Istanbul's most beloved green spaces, a beautifully landscaped park nestled alongside the outer walls of Topkapi Palace in the heart of the historic peninsula. Originally the private gardens of the Ottoman imperial palace, it was opened to the public in 1912. Today it offers shaded walkways, rose gardens, and sweeping views over the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.

Tips

Visit in spring when the park's famous rose gardens are in full bloom for the most colourful and fragrant experience. The park is free to enter and open daily, making it a perfect spot to rest between sightseeing in Sultanahmet. Head to the northern tip of the park for some of the finest and most peaceful views over the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. Gülhane is located directly alongside Topkapi Palace and within easy walking distance of Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, and the Hippodrome, fitting naturally into a full day on the historic peninsula.
