The Galata Mevlevi House, or Galata Mevlevihanesi, is one of Istanbul's oldest and most beautifully preserved Sufi lodges, nestled in a tranquil garden just off the lower end of Istiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu. Founded in 1491, it served as a centre of Mevlevi Sufi worship and the whirling dervish ceremony for centuries. Today it operates as a museum dedicated to Mevlevi culture and hosts regular sema ceremonies throughout the year.
