About this place
Once the historic Schultheiß brewery, the Kulturbrauerei is a sprawling 25,000 m² complex of red and yellow clinker brick buildings set across six courtyards in Prenzlauer Berg. Transformed after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it now hosts cinemas, clubs, theaters, restaurants, and the fascinating Museum in der Kulturbrauerei, dedicated to everyday life in the GDR.
Tips
Explore the six courtyards at your own pace to appreciate the preserved 19th-century industrial architecture and spot the original lettering on the façades. Don't miss the Museum in der Kulturbrauerei for a fascinating insight into GDR daily life — entry is free. Check the event calendar before your visit, as the complex regularly hosts concerts, markets, and cultural events. The Kulturbrauerei is easily reached by U-Bahn on line U2 at Eberswalder Strasse.
